The Ravens Landing

The things that make life shiny.

Month: November 2016

Still life

Posted on November 1, 2016 by abigailcossetteryan in artist, Uncategorized, watercolors

I don’t think I’ve drawn/painted a still life since high school. The one on the left was done holding the tip of the brush–so with less control–and the one on the right was done holding close to the brush end–more control.

I’m not sure which I like better. Except for the lemons, I undoubtedly like the relaxed lemons better.

What do you think?

Spring sprang.
This is a King Charles Spaniel puppy I painted as a draft. Some of my reference pictures were of the dog as a puppy, and some were of the dog as an adult. I ended up preferring the adult portrait and sending that one to the client. It actually took a couple drafts for this spaniel, sometimes that happens.
Another day, another fox.
This is Joe, an appaloosa. Like many appys, he had eye issues, and very delicate pink skin on his face, so most pictures of him he's wearing a fly mask for face protection. But his person made sure to send a bunch of pictures, and included a paragraph about him that made it possible to paint a portrait.
Happy St Patrick's day!
Selah is the color of really good butter. No, that's not quite right. The color of perfect pie crust? No...the color of a good cuddle.

I painted him a few months ago as a #petportraitmini This is Tuxedo.
